MOSCOW , Idaho The Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) is pleased to announce the 2011 Hall of Fame Inductees. The Appaloosa Hall of Fame was created in 1986 with a purpose of recognizing individuals and horses whose contributions have made an impressive and lasting impact on the industry as well as the ApHC. Each year nominations for the Hall of Fame are submitted by the ApHC membership. The ApHC Board of Directors then review each nomination and vote to determine the horses and individuals this prestigious honor will be bestowed upon.


Individuals Inducted:


The ApHC is pleased to announce the induction of the following individuals into the Hall of Fame:


  • Royce Crosby formerly of Lawton , Oklahoma

  • Sylvia Haines of Union Bridge , Maryland


Horses Inducted:

The ApHC is delighted to announce the following horses inducted into the 2011 ApHC Hall of Fame:


  • Blazing Hot Spots- bred by Jack & Barbara Albert of Boone , IA and last owned by Donna French of Burgaw , NC .

  • I Love Willie- bred by the late Bill Jones of Dallas , TX and last owned by the late Victoria Ennis of Kingston , OK

  • Joker’s Sleepy- last owned by O.B. Haley of Abilene , TX

  • MS Gunsmokes Doll- (automatic induction- earned Bronze Supreme Dam Production Plaque in 2011) bred by James & Barbara Mazziota of Reeders, PA and currently owned by Patricia Lawyer of Bordentown , NJ

  • MS High Five- (automatic induction- earned Bronze Supreme Sire Production Plaque in 2011) bred by MD Leffie M. Carlton, Jr. & C. Dennis Carlton of Tampa , FL , and currently owned by Marco Brunetti of Italy



Race Hall of Fame


In 1988, the ApHC established the ApHC Race Hall of Fame to recognize outstanding contributions to the Appaloosa racing industry—only one horse and one person can be inducted per year. The ApHC is pleased to announce the following inductees into the 2011 Race Hall of Fame:


  • Cheryl White of Alemeda County , California

  • Nellies Girl- 1975 Appaloosa mare sired by Priam’s Joker (ApHC) by Vandy Tequila (ApHC) out of Blazing Vandy (AQHA). Nellies Girl was bred by Ralph Henley of Wagoner, OK and last owned by Wagon Wheel Ranch Inc. of Springville , UT.


The above inductees will be honored at the 2011 Year-End Awards Banquet held in conjunction with the 65th National Championship Appaloosa Show in Tulsa , Oklahoma , July 15, 2012 at the Double Tree Warren Place . In addition, each Hall of Fame inductee will be recognized on an engraved plaque featuring a photograph and biography to be on permanent display in the Appaloosa Museum .
