Hamilton Rotary Club Benefit Art Raffle

Western artist Gary Lynn Roberts, of Hamilton , Montana , has donated an original oil painting, plus five large and five small framed giclee on canvas prints, to the Rotary Club of Hamilton, to be raffled and auctioned off for local charities benefiting children.

Roberts was born and raised in Texas and moved to Montana with his family. His art was recently on the cover of “Art of the West” magazine, accompanying a feature article about him. Roberts’ painting, After the Shower, won the People’s Choice Award and the Honorary Chairman’s Award at the  2009 C.M. Russell Auction in Great Falls, Montana. It sold for $38,000.

The donated original oil painting, The Bitterroot Lodge, 24” x 36”, set in the 1800s, depicts three riders with a packhorse crossing the Bitterroot River , with a lodge and snow-covered mountains in the background.

Proceeds from the auction of the original painting will benefit the children’s section of the new rehabilitation center at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital , in Hamilton .

The Montana Hope Project, which makes dreams come true for critically-ill children, will benefit from a raffle of number one of five, framed 24”x36” giclee on canvas, signed limited edition prints of the donated art. The large print has a value of $1,500. Proceeds will be used exclusively for children in Ravalli County .

The second large limited edition print will benefit Haven House Food Bank. The last three large prints will sell at silent auction to benefit other local charities.

Five limited edition smaller prints are on display at five Farmers State Bank branches in the Bitterroot Valley . All will be raffled off to benefit a charity in those five communities.

Only 1,000 raffle tickets for that first large print will be sold, for $10 each, or six for $50. Sales end December 31, 2009 and the drawing will be held January 4, 2010.
