Horse Haven Montana Offers Wonderful, Senior Trail

Mare for Adoption

Dear Friends of Horse Haven Montana ,

It may be snowy, blowy and cold, but that doesn’t stop the equine adoption process as you know.  And it doesn’t stop the need for new homes for great horses.  Here’s a wonderful senior mare that we are now trying to place and she is both lovely to look at and a great trail horse.

Her name is Betty and she is trained for Western Pleasure.  Sadly, due to a divorce and a move, her former owner had to leave her with a friend who has been fostering her but they are on leased land and already have as many horses as they are allowed so Betty needs a new and forever home.

Her only problem if you can call it that is that she doesn’t have a great set of teeth anymore so she will need to be grained.  The current foster home is feeding her a sweet feed though we like to recommend Equine Senior supplemented perhaps with some soaked alfalfa/grass mix pellets which are especially good when it’s cold and a very inexpensive way to get good feed into an older horse and/or beet pulp. But she can certainly be supplemented with hay as with all of our senior horses – gives them something to do, something to munch on and keeps them happy.

The current foster home will pay the transport costs from them to her new home, within reason.  I will have photos soon but in the meantime, if you or anyone you know (and please feel free to share this email) may be looking for a nice, quiet, sweet and well trained trail horse, this may be your girl (mare!).  Her adoption fee is $250 and don’t forget, we must have an adoption application from you with your application fee of $25, in order for the process to begin.  The application fee of course will be deducted from the adoption fee if and when you are approved and we find you the right horse that you feel great about.  We can email an adoption application or you can download it from our website and send it in.  This enables us to learn about the potential adopter and match the right horse to the right person.

I don’t think Betty will be available too long because she’s got so many nice attributes so if you or someone you know might be interested, let’s get her into her new home maybe even in time for Christmas!  She is up to date on worming, vaccinations and hoof trimming.

Many thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!
Travel safe,

Janet
