Bitterroot Back Country Horsemen and Bitterroot National Forest

partner on Larry Creek Trail repairs

Hamilton, MT. – Bitterroot Back Country Horsemen (BBCH) and the Bitterroot National Forest are partnering on a project to repair Larry Creek Trail # 129 on the Stevensville Ranger District. The project is scheduled for this Saturday, October 15th at 8:30 a.m.

The group is planning to repair a section of trail on the lower loop. They will be building 60-feet of turnpike to help drainage and also plan to spread new gravel on the path. This is a popular hiking and horseback riding area that gets heavy use, so hikers and riders should be on alert this weekend and watch out for volunteer work crews. For more information, contact project leader Brad Pollman at (406) 546-6492 or visit www.bchmt.org/bitterroot

BBCH was established more than 30 years ago and was one of the first chapters in the nation. Their goal is to ensure that stock users can continue to access backcountry and wilderness trails. The club annually contributes over 600 personal hours and 425 stock hours on projects, most on the National Forest, that create significant benefits for all trail users and for the natural resources.
