Business Profile

Equus & Paws Sports Massage

October 2013 issue

Equus & Paws Sports Massage, Missoula, MT

Elizabeth McNeilly spent a number of years mastering the skills needed to become the owner of Equus & Paws, a holistic equine and canine sport massage and dog grooming spa in Missoula , MT.

McNeilly explains that all horses can benefit from Equine Sports Massage Therapy. It improves attitude, flexibility and movement. She says that muscle problems are cumulative in nature. If one set of muscles is tight, the horse, just like a person, will compensate by tensing up and soring other muscles.

Horses also anticipate pain and their gaits will become short, choppy and uneven. Massage relieves pain; stimulates circulation; enhances muscle tone; increases range of motion; promotes healing; creates balance; helps with tying up; and encourages willingness and better communication between horse and rider.

McNeilly attended Rocky Mountain College in Billings , MT , where she majored in equine studies, and then became certified in equine sports massage from Equissage in Virginia ; and in canine massage at Rocky Mountain School for Acupressure and Massage in Denver . McNeilly also attended dog grooming school in Delaware . She is licensed and insured.

Equus & Paws was awarded the Pet Product News International Retailer of the Year Outstanding Holistic Approach Award for 2011-2012.

The Equus & Paws store offers natural shampoos, treats, dog food, and toys which are all USA or Montana made. The store is located at 2825 Stockyard Road , Suite E-4, Missoula , MT.
