When RMR photographer Rick Landry ran his June ad featuring a piece of

Many of our readers contacted us to let us know that it is instead a
photo of a horse-drawn potato digger.
Writes Carolyn Jones of “My
dad had one on our ranch at Baker,
“Then my brothers would come along with a wagon, load the full sacks
into the wagon. When the wagon was loaded with sacks of potatoes, they would
haul them to the root cellar and empty the sacks into a bin at the back of the
cellar to store for family use, as well as our own seed for the following year.
“We raised primarily Irish reds and some russets,
but the reds grew to be gigantic and were much more tasty than the russets. We
always used the “virgin” soil areas that my dad had recently cleared brush
and rocks from and no crop had ever been planted before.
