We
are hosting the Rocky
Mountain Breeders Association (RMBA) Ranch Horse Competition series again this year. The events are open to all riders;
however, to be eligible for Year End High Point Awards, the points are awarded
to an individual horse / rider duo and the rider must be a current RMBA member. We
do have a new class debuting in the Ranch Horse Competitions this season. A
Youth 13 and Under Class has been created. We hope this will encourage more
young participants to get involved and also work hand-in-hand with the new 4-H
Ranch Horse Program. The Youth Class consists of a modified Novice Rider class
with a reining pattern, cow work, and trail obstacles all part of the class, but
with concessions made towards youth who may need assistance in mounting due to
riders size. The Youth Class joins the current class line-up of Two Year Old
Horse; Novice Rider; Green Ranch Horse Junior and Senior divisions; and Advanced
Ranch Horse Classes with one offering roping, the other offering full fledged
reined cowhorse fence work. The
Ranch Horse Competition show dates are June 25, fairgrounds, Wilsall; July 30,
Saddle Peak Arena, The
second year of the Offspring
Incentive Program will be
held during the horse sale weekend with the show classes held on Saturday,
August 27, 2011 at the fairgrounds in Deer Lodge,
Other fun events are the Ranch Rodeos. The first one is scheduled for June 11th at
the fairgrounds in The
11th Annual Production,
Performance, and Ranch Horse The
year in RMBA is capped off with the annual membership meeting and the Annual
Awards Banquet. The
banquet is open to everyone and is scheduled for September 24, 2011, in Entry forms are available on the RMBA website at www.montanarmba.org or entries may be phoned in at 406-866-3434.
