Packing
& Equestrian Skills Expo

Missoula, MT

“The 3rd Annual Packing and Equestrian Skills Expo will be held May 21,
2011, at the
Missoula
Equestrian
Park
in
Missoula
,
MT.
The event is co-sponsored by the Back Country Horsemen of Missoula and the
Missoula
Equestrian
Park
, and admission is free to the public.
The day kicks off in the main arena at 10:00
a.m. with a tribute for Armed Forces Day, followed throughout the day with
presentations featuring the US Forest Service Northern Region Pack Train, cowboy
mounted shooting, a breed parade, and a variety of riding disciplines.
Back country demonstrations include horse
handling and safety, packing with Smoke Elser, emergency back country hoof care,
human and equine first aid, feeding, saddle fitting, and a “Leave No Trace”
campsite.
The
Missoula
Equestrian
Park
will demonstrate dressage, cross-country jumping, stadium jumping, and a
Kid’s Tent will provide activities for youngsters. Other highlights include
vendor booths and horse-drawn trolley rides.
Marjorie Harper, past president of the
Missoula
Equestrian
Park
, says, “The facility is one of the jewels in the crown of
Missoula
County
. It is set on 90 acres, and features four arenas, an event course, and trails.
It has been built with many hours of volunteer labor, as well as community
donations.”
