Over
600 people attended the 12th Annual MBG Production Sale of World Class
Performance Horses, held annually in the Livestock Pavilion at MT Expo
Park in
Great Falls
,
MT.
This year we had a record amount of registered buyers from AZ, IN, ID,
ND, SD, WI, NV, WA,
Saskatchewan
,
Alberta
and
Montana
. We had a good sale with
all things considered and we believe the consignors deserve the credit
for our success with a strong set of horses consigned again this year.
Every horse was sold and found new homes. We would like to thank
all of our buyers and we know they can
feel confident in the horses they purchased.
The
Sale
was sponsored by the North Country Stock Horse Assn, and managed by the
Montana Breeders Group, LLC. At
noon just prior to the
Sale
, visitors and buyers alike were treated to the ever-popular free
Western style Beef barbeque lunch hosted by the Montana Breeders Group.
Successful buyers were all smiles when they received a long
stemmed rose with each purchase acknowledgement
The
High Selling Horse brought $5800, and the Average on our Top Ten horses was $4180. The riding horses
were a strong attraction this year. The dynamic duo of our MBG
auctioneer Dan Skeels of
Alberta
,
Canada
and our pedigree man Garth Isbell of Cardwell, MT did a fantastic job!
They always prove to be very popular with the audience and all enjoy
their lively sense of humor.
Bids
were taken by Joe Farris, Armstrong, BC, Don Rehm, Columbus, MT, Andy
Rest, Shepherd, MT, and Jeff Thomas, Bozeman, MT. Will Rambo of Mountain
View Co-op and Larry Kelly of Western Ranch Supply in
Great Falls
provided us with additional panels for the sale. Hub International
Insurance, Billings/Great Falls, provided short term insurance available
to
Sale
horse purchasers. Dr. Kurt Johnson, Foothills Veterinary Services,
Bynum

was on hand to provide Health reports for the out-of-state buyers and
the many Canadian buyers. Also

presented a sack of feed to each high-selling consignor.

brought the High Selling Horse/High Selling Riding horse to town this
year. He was

89, Pics Powder Lug, a good-looking four-year old grey gelding,
sired by Pic O Powder Keg. Thad
showed the horse’s ability to work cattle in a preview before the sale
much to the crowd’s delight. Dennis
Voss, Two Dot, MT claimed the bomb-proof gelding with a winning bid of
$5800 and he also received a monogrammed MBG blanket and a $100 Gas
Certificate sponsored by The Town Pumps of Butte, MT for his purchase.

for the Reserve High Selling Riding Horse were
Lot 41-Royal Hitch,
a four-year old well-started sorrel
gelding x Royal Silver King out of Colonel Freckles bred mare and Lot
49- Holly San Caliber, a five-year old well broke bay gelding x
Mr Holly San Special out of Tyrees Watch daughter.
Royal Hitch was a consignment from the Hereim ranch and was
purchased by Robert Liva, from
Butte
MT
, for a final bid of $5200;
Holly San Caliber was a consignment from Horse Butte Ranch and was
purchased by Gary Lippink of Two Dot,
Montana
for $5200 as well.
Robert
Liva also purchased the High Selling Broodmare,
Lot
21- Hopscotch Mattie. Consigned by the Haight Ranch, “Mattie”
is a beautiful bay daughter x Whisper In Scotch, and checked in foal to
Haight’s black stallion, Royal Account. The gavel fell at $2200 for
this mare. Robert was also presented with a monogram blanket.
Lot
68-Smart San Freckle, a classy bay mare x Smart Easter Bunny,
checked in foal to Pepper’s palomino stallion, Milky Way 499 . was
purchased for $1500 by
Lester and Kate Pryce of

Saskatchewan
. She was consigned by Russ and Barb Pepper, and was the Reserve High
Selling Broodmare.

of the Sale attractions this year was the High Selling Weanling Filly,
Lot 83-All Reddy Penny Bar x All Reddy Smart out of a Brenna’s
Kid daughter consigned by Cole Redhorse, LLC of Shelby, MT.
This striking dun filly brought the high dollar bid of $2500
from Amanda Smieja of Livingston,
MT.
Amanda
also received a MBG monogrammed horse blanket. Reserve High Selling
Weanling Filly was Lot 59-Miley 499, a fancy chocolate palomino
filly x Milky Way 499, consigned by Russ and Barb Pepper of Simms, MT,
and purchased for $1900 by Mark Archer and Vickie James of Vevey, IN.

High Selling Weanling /High Selling Weanling Stallion
honors this year went to Lot 29-Profit CEO, a classy black
colt x Profit Increase out of a Royal Three Charge daughter consigned by
Prairie Breeze QH, LLC of Fairfield, MT. He sold to bidder Harold
“Jiggs” Main of Harlem, MT for a price tag of $3700. Jiggs also received an MBG monogrammed blanket.

Boomernicker out of a Quanah O Lena daughter , consigned by Davis Creek

Pike of Fort Shaw, MT was the high bidder at $3200.

Yearling Stallion
The
High Selling Yearling Filly was Lot 51-Frosted Hottie Fly, a very
pretty palomino filly x AP Frosty Knight out of Continental Fly daughter
consigned by the Sunshine ranch at Conrad, MT. Multiple buyer Cold
Springs Ranch of Norris, MT added this filly to their purchases with a
winning bid of $1300. The
Reserve High Selling Yearling Filly was Lot 110-RV
Magical Otoe, a lovely chestnut filly x RV Smart Magic out of
Doc O Dude bred mare, consigned by the Rangeview Ranch at
Cardston
,
AB.
Her final bid price was $900,

A
new category established this year was High Selling 2-3 Year old
Prospects. This category was topped by Lot 37-RV Hang Em High, a
well trained bay gelding consigned by Rangeview Ranch at Cardston, AB,
sired by RV Smart Magic and out of RV Hangten Otoe, this top bred
reining horse was snapped up by Myrle Gollaher for $4300. The Reserve
High Selling 2-3 year old prospect was Lot 28- Genuine Profits,
an elegant brown 2 year old mare x Profit Increase out of a
granddaughter of Royal Three Charge, consigned by Prairie Breeze Quarter
Horses, LLC, Fairfield, MT. She
was well started for a 2 year old . She was trained and shown by
Larry Kelly of

MT.
She sold to new owner, Barbara Campbell of

for a winning bid of $3400.
