Ride Through Spectacular Wyoming
Private Property on the
Outlaw Trail
Ride 2012
By Carol Thiesse, OTR
Secretary
The annual Outlaw Trail Ride will held August 5–11, 2012,
starting from Thermopolis, Wyoming, and and making a big loop through historic
ranch country in north-central Wyoming.
With
over 20 years of history behind us, the Outlaw Trail Ride offers the rider
spectacular scenery and a chance to relive the history of the Wild West.
The
days are filled with riding on the old Outlaw Trail, the Bridger Trail, and
visiting historical ranches and places where the outlaws would ‘hang out’.
Many a rancher in this area would find their saddle horses gone from the
corral in the morning and left in their stead were some worn out horses. Weeks
or months later, their own horses would be returned.

These stories have been passed down to each generation. Our evening
campfires and entertainment provide the opportunity for the landowners to
provide the riders with the history of this area that their grandparents and
great grandparents experienced.
The
riders will also be able to visit with the authors of two new books being
released in 2012. A book signing in the middle of the Bloomquist Ranch hay
field! Now that’s Western.
Plan
on spending a full day in the saddle, we’ll be making about 20 miles per day
averaging 2.5 miles per hour. This is country you will NEVER see again—90%
private land, so enjoy it while you can.
The
Outlaw Trail Ride is fully catered with delicious meals for you and plenty of
grain and hay for your horses or mules. You really need to do this! We hope
you’ll be one of the 25 riders we see on the trail this year.
