Mule
Clinics with Steve Edwards
Steve Edwards, of Queen Valley Mule Ranch in
Arizona
, has been training mules and donkeys — and their owners — for more
than 30 years.
Steve offers his experience
and expertise in a variety of ways, including apprenticeships at his
ranch to become a professional mule trainer, mule training videos, and
clinics across the
U.S.
and beyond — he’ll be training in
Cairo
,
Egypt
this spring.
Steve focuses on building a
partnership between the rider and mule, and teaches communication from
the ground up — retraining problem mules, shoeing, ranch work,
driving, showing, packing, trail riding and much more.
This year, Steve will be
hosting “Donkey
& Mule Trail Challenges”
at the Hoosier Horse Fair & Expo and the Central Minnesota Donkey
& Mule Fun Show. The Challenge is an exciting new competition for
owners of mules and donkeys to show how versatile their equines are.
Participate or attend Steve’s
clinics at horse
expos and events such as Equine Affaire, Ride the West, Mane Event and
Festival of the Horse. Pre-registered spectators may attend at no charge
at all 2010 clinics.
For 2010, Steve has already
scheduled mule events within the distribution area of Rocky
Mountain Rider Magazine. He will attend Montana Mule Days, June
2010, in
Hamilton
,
Montana
; and will hold two clinics at DJ Bar Ranch, also in June, in
Belgrade
,
Montana
.
The clinics at DJ Bar Ranch are two of Steve’s most popular: “Trail Riding with Confidence”
and “Colt Starting.” Trail Riding with Confidence builds trail
riding skills for both rider and mule, while learning safety and having
fun. Colt Starting gives a young mule the right start under saddle.
Other popular Steve Edwards
Clinics include: “Art of Communication” – from the saddle and on
the ground; “Why Does My Mule Do That?” – get all of your
questions answered so that you can answer your mule’s questions;
“Driving” – learn to drive up to six mules for pleasure or
commercial use; and “Packing” – which includes four levels of
packing, from basic to professional.
